Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern access to and use of Houston Cortex. By accessing or using Houston Cortex, you agree to these Terms.
1. Service description
Houston Cortex is a private AI and knowledge platform that may provide document search, retrieval-augmented generation, AI-assisted responses, document and data indexing, integrations with external services, organizational knowledge retrieval, automation, and productivity features. Some environments may be provided as demonstration, evaluation, staging, beta, or pre-release versions.
2. Eligibility
You must have the legal authority to use Houston Cortex and to authorize access to any third-party accounts, files, systems, or data sources that you connect to the platform. If you use Houston Cortex on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you are authorized to do so.
3. User responsibilities
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account, ensuring that connected data sources are authorized, complying with applicable laws and contractual obligations, ensuring that you have permission to process information uploaded or connected to Houston Cortex, and reviewing AI-generated outputs before relying on them.
You must not use Houston Cortex for unlawful, abusive, fraudulent, or unauthorized purposes.
4. Third-party integrations
Houston Cortex may connect to third-party services such as Google Drive, Gmail, Google Calendar, or other systems. Use of those third-party services remains subject to the third party’s own terms and policies. Houston Cortex is not responsible for outages, changes, restrictions, or actions taken by third-party providers.
5. AI-generated content
Houston Cortex may generate responses using artificial intelligence. AI-generated content may be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, or misleading. Users are responsible for independently verifying important information before relying on AI-generated outputs, particularly in legal, financial, medical, security, operational, or other high-impact contexts.
6. Evaluation and demo environments
Where Houston Cortex is provided as a demo, evaluation, staging, beta, or pre-release environment, features may change without notice, availability is not guaranteed, data may be reset, integrations may be interrupted, and performance may differ from production systems. Such environments should not be used as the sole repository for critical information.
7. Intellectual property
Houston Cortex and its software, architecture, branding, user interface, documentation, and associated intellectual property remain the property of Houston Cortex or its licensors. These Terms do not transfer ownership of the platform to users. Users retain ownership of their own data and content.
8. Confidentiality
Where users access non-public Houston Cortex functionality, documentation, demonstrations, or evaluation environments, they must not improperly disclose confidential or proprietary information made available through the service.
9. Prohibited activities
Users may not attempt to gain unauthorized access to systems or data, circumvent security controls, reverse engineer the platform except where expressly permitted by law, intentionally interfere with platform operation, distribute malware, abuse third-party integrations, or use another person’s account without authorization.
10. Availability
We aim to provide a reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Maintenance, outages, security events, infrastructure failures, third-party service changes, or other circumstances may affect availability.
11. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access where reasonably necessary, including in cases of misuse, security risk, violation of these Terms, legal requirements, or abuse of platform resources. Users may stop using Houston Cortex at any time.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
Houston Cortex is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, to the extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee that the service will always be available, error-free, or suitable for every purpose.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Houston Cortex will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or similar damages arising from use of the platform. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The latest version will be published on this page with the applicable revision date.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the applicable laws of the jurisdiction in which the Houston Cortex service provider is established, unless mandatory local law requires otherwise.
